    You Are What You Eat

    The Advantages of Organic Food

Do you really know what goes into your food? In the rush to produce more and more crops to satisfy growing demand producers have had to resort to using a lethal cocktail of pesticides to control disease and insect attack. This is why you need to be informed of the advantages of organic food.

Did you know that if you consumed an average apple you would be eating over 30 pesticides, even after you have washed it? You will have to eat more fruit nowadays to make up the deficiency, but unfortunately that means eating more chemicals, more detrimental affects on your health eating something that should be good for you!

If you are as worried as I am about the health of your family then you need to read this article and seriously consider converting your family to the organic lifestyle. Organic food is known to contain 50% more nutrients, minerals and vitamins than produce that has been intensively farmed.

Trust me, once you try some organic produce and taste an apple the way it should be, and perhaps how you recall it tasting in your youth, you will never go back to mass produced fruit again.

Pesticides in food have been linked to many diseases including: Cancer, Obesity, Altzheimer's, and Some birth defects. Not a nice list is it? There are probably others but if you think about it, how can it be okay for you to eat chemicals and not expect some form of reaction in your body. Our bodies are delicately balanced wonderful machines. Any form of foreign chemical is bound to cause irritation at the least.

Please take advantage of the organic food and do consider taking a closer look at what you are eating. It's for your health after all!

    Benefits of Eating Oatmeal

Hopefully you've already discovered how delicious oatmeal can be by experimenting. These are the benefits you can derive from eating a delicious bowl of oatmeal.

Over 40 studies show that eating oatmeal may help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. According to Quaker, all it takes is 3/4 cup of oatmeal each day to help lower cholesterol. In January 1997, the Food and Drug Administration announced that oatmeal could carry a label claiming it may reduce the risk of heart disease when combined with a low-fat diet.

The soluble fiber in oatmeal absorbs a considerable amount of water which significantly slows down your digestive process. This result is that you'll feel full longer, i.e. oatmeal can help you control your weight.

New research suggests that eating oatmeal may reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes. The soluble fiber in these foods help to control blood glucose levels.

With the exception of certain flavored varieties, the oats found in your grocery store are 100% natural. You will usually see only one ingredient... rolled oats.

According to recent studies, a diet that includes oatmeal may help reduce high blood pressure. The reduction is linked to the increase in soluble fiber provided by oatmeal. Oats contain more soluble fiber than whole wheat, rice or corn.

Oatmeal contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and is a good source of protein, complex carbohydrates and iron.

The fiber and other nutrients found in oatmeal may actually reduce the risk for certain cancers.

Oatmeal is quick and convenient. Quick oats can usually be made in less than 10 minutes.

Oatmeal can be absolutely delicious! Whether instant, cooked on the stove or baked in the oven, the combination of flavors you can fit into a serving of oatmeal is limited only by the imagination.

Oatmeal : a great way to start your day

I just think that everyone should know about oatmeal and I'm interested to search informations about it ^^

Oatmeal is a product of ground oat groats (i.e. oat-meal, cf. cornmeal, peasemeal, etc.) or a porridge made from this product (also called oatmeal cereal). Oatmeal is used to make porridge, as an ingredient as in oatmeal cookies and oat cakes, or as an accent as in the topping on many oat bran breads and the coating on Caboc cheese. It is also used as a thickener in some foods such as canned chili con carne. Oatmeal is also used in some alcoholic drinks, cosmetics, soaps, external medical treatments, and is sometimes added to animal feed products.(en.wikipedia.org)

Oatmeal is tasteless, so you can add any toppings you like, such as fruits, milk, syrup, coffee, or maybe ice cream. It's fun to experiment with oatmeal, you'll feel exciting to get your breakfast. If you're on carbohydrate diet, you can eat oatmeal as substitution of rice. Oatmeal is good for health, I will post about the benefits soon.

    Sate Khas Senayan

Sate Khas Senayan is Indonesian traditional restaurant. Beside Indonesian food, this restaurant also serves seafood and many more.

    Recommended:
    Sate Ayam
    Buntut Goreng
    * Most menu come in big portion and serve as packet (included rice and other additional complements)

This is a little bit different from Sate Khas Senayan Express in the serving way. I prefer Sate Khas Senayan to the Express one.

I will add some food pictures later :)

    Facts about Chocolates

    Won't chocolate make me fat?
Chocolate packs fat and sugar, so overindulging does put on pounds. But chocolate is not a prime cause of obesity, studies worldwide find. The Swiss eat twice as much chocolate per person as we do -- 22 pounds a year -- but have one of the lowest obesity rates.

Isn't chocolate full of saturated fat, the type that clogs arteries?
About 60% of chocolate's fat is saturated, and a typical chocolate bar contains 8 grams of saturated fat, so bingeing on chocolate drives up your intake of saturated fat. But moderate amounts do not appear harmful. Extensive research at Harvard found women who ate chocolate bars three or four times a week were no more apt to have heart disease than women who rarely ate chocolate.

Isn't the sugar in chocolate unhealthful?
In excess, yes. But a chocolate bar's glycemic index -- a measure of ability to drive up blood sugar -- is surprisingly low, about like oatmeal's.

    What about chocolate's caffeine?
A dark chocolate bar's 10-30mg is modest next to the 100mg in a cup of coffee.

Isn't most research funded by the chocolate industry?
Yes, but it's done by reputable scientists at leading universities and published in excellent scientific journals. Quaker paid for much original research on oats; that doesn't make it untrue.

    Benefits and Risks of Chocolates

Good Livingis an act of intelligence, by which we choose thingswhich have an agreeable tasterather than those which do not - Brillat Savarin

I love chocolates, do you? I heard that chocolates bring us some benefits, but i also know there are lot of people avoid chocolates for some reasons. That facts push me to know more about chocolates.

Chocolate is regularly eaten for pleasure. Besides, there are many potential beneficial effects on health of eating chocolate. There has even been a fad diet, named "Chocolate diet", that emphasizes eating chocolate and cocoa powder in capsules. Indeed, small but regular amounts of dark chocolate lower the possibility of a heart attack.

On the other hand, eating large quantities of any chocolate increases risk of obesity. The major concern that nutritionists have is that even though eating dark chocolate may favorably affect certain biomarkers of cardiovascular disease, the amount needed to have this effect would provide a relatively large quantity of calories, which, if unused, would promote weight gain.

There is a popular belief that the consumption of chocolate can cause acne. The statement is still being studied. Milk is known to cause acne, including any which is mixed with chocolate. There is concern of mild lead poisoning for some types of chocolate. Chocolate is toxic to many animals because of insufficient capacity to metabolize theobromine.

Part of the pleasure of eating chocolate is due to the fact that its melting point is slightly below human body temperature: it melts in the mouth. A study reported by the BBC indicated that melting chocolate in one's mouth produced an increase in brain activity and heart rate that was more intense than that associated with passionate kissing, and also lasted four times as long after the activity had ended.

Since chocolates give us positive and negative sides, i remind you : don't eat it too much! (like i always remind myself :p)
